Mission

Tell us a little about you.

I was born the middle son in a family of three boy, all of us 1 year apart in age.  My wife, Jonna, and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for 42 years.  We really were kids when we got married and God graciously taught us how to “grow up” together.  God has blessed us with a son, two daughters, two son-in-laws and 9 grandchildren. I never dreamed God would bless us with so many grandchildren, but what a joy they are!  We love to spend time with our family and feel so privileged to have them all live nearby.

You might not know...

My wife and I rode the entire week of Ragbrai (nearly 500 miles) in 1997…and on a tandem bike to boot!

Describe your role at Harmony.

I am the Director of Congregational Care.  My job involves visiting those that are hospitalized or shut-in, connecting with people that are hurting to offer encouragement and prayer support and I am also over the senior members of our congregation.  I have a great team that helps me through the Stephen Ministry and the GriefShare Ministry.

What do you like best about your ministry?

I love being with people, listening to their hearts and praying with them.  A real plus is to work with the senior members of this congregation.  They are so appreciative and they certainly have the joy of the Lord (Nehemiah 8:10) within their hearts.  They are a great testimony of the Lord’s faithfulness to me and so many others.

What was your childhood ambition?

Actually as the middle son of a family of boys, just “growing up and living to tell about it” was ambition enough!  There was a point early on in our marriage that we felt the Lord was calling us to the mission field. It became apparent that was not His plan for us.  Little did I know that the Lord would make this ministry of Congregational Care available to me after I retired from Case/New Holland.
