Tell us a little about you.
Because I was born and raised in Ames, Iowa cheering for the Hawkeyes might get me disowned by my family! My wife Anna is an awesome farm girl from near Creston, IA and an amazing baker! We met in college at Faith College in Ankeny, IA and grew in our marriage while at Mid-America Seminary in Memphis, TN. Mabry and Ty were born near Syracuse, NY while I worked as Youth Pastor at Grace Chapel of Skaneateles, NY. Our third child, Kara, was born in Memphis, TN while I finished my Masters of Divinity and did construction. We are glad to be back in Iowa, building Jesus' kingdom in a cornfield!
You might not know...
Anna and I have live in 17 different apartments and houses since we've been married (like is said Anna is amazing!) And I own a piece of the Berlin Wall. These two facts are in no way related...
Describe your role at Harmony
As Pastor of Connection, I oversee helping people connect with Jesus and grow in faith. Connect Groups, adult discipleship groups and membership class are a little of what I do. I also have the privilege of directing young adult ministry - reaching out to young adults around SE Iowa and helping them take steps of faith toward Jesus Christ.
What do you like best about your ministry?
I'm passionate about making disciples that make disciples. I've seen the way the Word of God in the power of the Holy Spirit can change people from the inside out. Helping people become followers of Jesus and grow in Christ keeps me engaged on mission for my Savior. I'm stoked I get a front seat to see life-change all around me!
What was your childhood ambition?
I wanted to be an engineer and build things. After all, Iowa State
University produces the best engineers! Now I get to build the kingdom
of God and engineer relationships that help bridge the gospel into
life!
